One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory.

Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping your enemy will die.

Nearly everyone has been hurt by the actions or words of another. When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge, or embrace forgiveness and move forward. These wounds can leave you with lasting feelings of anger, bitterness or even vengeance, and in the you might be the one who pays most heavily. By embracing forgiveness, you can embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy. Forgiveness is a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. The act that hurt or offended you might always remain a part of your life, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help you focus on other, positive parts of your life. Forgiveness doesn't mean that you deny the other person's responsibility for hurting you, and it doesn't minimize or justify the wrong. You can forgive the person without excusing the act. It brings a kind of peace that helps you to go on with life.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

If you allow negative feelings to crowd out positive feelings, you might find yourself swallowed up by your own bitterness or sense of injustice. If you're not forgiving, you might pay the price repeatedly by bringing anger and bitterness into every relationship and new experience. Your life might become so confused up in the wrong that you can't enjoy the present. Many people ruin their health and their lives by taking the poison of bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness. Some people point out that God is responsible for all mis-happening in their lives. Forgive God if you are angry with him because your life didn't turn out the way you thought it should. God is always just. There may be things you don't understand, but God loves you, and people make a serious mistake when they don't receive help from the only One who can truly help them.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.
